Classroom environments are tailored to include the CAPS curriculum and to meet the academic needs of the learners over and above that of CAPS. Examinations, term tests, class tests and continuous class assessments form the bases for formative and summative learning to occur. Learners also participate in Olympiads; Conquesta; IEB tests (CORE testing and MATCH testing) etc. These have all proven an invaluable source of highlighting the excellent value of Covenant’s learners academic standards.
Covenant College consists of the Primary School and High school.
The primary school is broken down into the Foundation Phase (Grade R to Grade 3), Intersen Phase (Grade 4 to Grade 6) and the Senior Phase (Grade 7). The three HOD’s, Mrs A. Etherington, Mrs H. Ross and Mrs G. Peterson work very closely with the teachers to ensure that the standard of academic and discipline excellence is maintained and improved upon through a holistic and Christian-like approach.
The High school is broken down into GET phase (grade 8 & 9) and FET phase (grade 10-12) with Mrs Ford and Mrs Jordaan as respective HOD’s.
The opportunities to excel in academics is afforded to all and an ethos of “Working in excellence” runs deep in both staff and learners alike.
